Drop Testing

Drop testing is a shock test that is performed in order to evaluate and observe the effects of shock on the packaged or unpackaged product. Drop testing seems simple, but doing it in a high quality manner is not simple.  Packages must be dropped so as to impact at the correct angle in multiple orientations.  This is nearly impossible to do simply dropping boxes by hand.  The impact surface, and material below the surface, must meet precise specifications.  Testing large sample sizes, as required to meet statistical confidence requirements such as for FDA approval of medical products, requires specialized equipment in order to assure accuracy and consistency.

Shipping testing is sometimes simply called drop testing, but there is much more than drop testing required to simulate product shipments through all planned distribution channels.  Quest also performs all the required truck ride vibration, temperature, altitude, sterile package integrity and many other tests that are necessary to demonstrate package integrity during transportation.
